Sandy Island Anguilla

Sandy Island Anguilla is a treasured natural wonder. The Caribbean’s best beach bar and restaurant is located in the middle of the ocean on this tiny spit of sand off Sandy Ground Beach. The Sandy Island restaurant has become something of a Mecca for tourists from all over the world over the years. Mega yacht captains recommend the restaurant as the place to go for amazing views, local seafood, fresh fruit cocktails, and an incredible wine list that will impress even the most discerning food and wine connoisseurs.

It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful place on the planet. Sandy Island is a popular off-island destination that provides visitors with a fantastic tropical experience. It’s far enough away to give you that Robinson Crusoe vibe, but close enough to keep you connected to the mainland.

The island is renewed every year by natural forces. Hurricanes, tropical storms, and severe wave action all contribute to the island’s reshaping. Some refer to it as annihilation… It’s referred to as renovation and renewal.

Sandy Island first opened its doors in 1984. With nothing more than a makeshift shack for shade, a traditional drum-pan barbecue grill, and a cooler full of cold beer. For many years, the island’s two-man staff entertained boatloads of hungry sun and sea worshippers. Many weddings, movies, TV commercials, photo shoots, and music concerts have taken place on the island, and it continues to do so.

Hurricane Luis completely destroyed the island in 1995. Hurricane Lenny hit in 1999, bringing new sand deposits and a shipwreck. The restaurant was rebuilt in 2007. Hurricane Omar flooded the area in 2008. Hurricane Earl made his changes in 2010.
